The Dutch offshore Veronica Race is accepted as qualification opportunity for the Rolex Fastnet Race 2021. Several qualifying offshore sailing races in the Netherlands had to be cancelled due to the Covid restrictions. Many subscripted teams to the Rolex Fastnet Race 2021 had difficulty to collect their required offshore nautical miles. The RORC recently confirmed the Veronica Race as additional qualification race for the Fastnet.
The Veronica Race is considered as an excellent opportunity to qualify, in particular for teams operating from the continental European coastal waters. The Veronica Race is scheduled on 12 and 13 June. The harbour of Colijnsplaat will be the administrative and logistical base.
The Veronica Race has a length of approximately 160 NM. The starting and finishing areas are located near the Roompot sluices West of the “Oosterscheldekering”. The course will be an overnight race in between approximately 17 and 23 hours and will be sailed off the Dutch Coast, North East of the leading lights of Westkapelle.
The entry fee will be refunded in case of Covid-19 restrictions.
